Ac-EVNL-AMC is a fluorogenic protease substrate for ATP-dependent proteolytic complexes in certain bacteria, in the mitochondrion of some eukaryotes, and trypanosomes such as Leishmania. Activity is quantified by release of free fluorescent 7-amino-4-methylcoumarin (AMC) which excites at 360-380 nm and emits at 440-460 nm.
