2-Furoyl-LIGRL-NH2 is a potent agonist of Protease-Activated Receptor 2 (PAR2). Treatment of mice with 2-Furoyl-LIGRL-NH2 resulted in gastric mucosal cytoprotective activity, the potency being much greater than SLIGRL-NH2 in combination with amastatin. Capsaicin pretreatment inhibited the cytoprotective activity. 2-Furoyl-LIGRL-NH2 treatment also prevented gastric mucosal lesions in mice.
