Rabbit polyclonal antibody in serum. This antibody recognizes the alpha isoform of diacylglycerol kinase (DGK). DGK catalyze a reaction terminating the protein kinase C mediated signaling by converting diacylglycerol (DAG) to phosphatidic acid (PA), a signaling lipid which is involved in DNA synthesis, phospholipid synthesis and regulation of several enzymes.
Diacylglycerol (DAG) is an intermediate in phospholipid synthesis which functions as an allosteric activator of protein kinase C (PKC). Research shows the zeta isoform of DGK undergoes tissue-specific alternative splicing resulting in an elongated N terminus enzyme predominantly in muscle.
